Ilys Conley, 77, of Webster City, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2012 at her home with her family at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with Rev. Stephen Meyer, celebrant. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and at the church after 9:00 a.m. Saturday. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6:45 p.m. and a scripture service will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Ilys LaVonne Brown, daughter of Delbert and LaVera Hankins Brown, was born June 2, 1934 on the family farm near Corwith, in Hancock County. The family resided at Corwith and Algona before moving to Webster City in 1940. She attended Webster City Elementary, graduating in 1951 from Lincoln High. She then attended Webster City Junior College, graduating in 1953 with an Associates of Arts in Education. She accepted a teaching position at Stanhope Community Schools. In June 8, 1955, she married Wayne Edward Conley at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The couple resided in Southern Wright county for five years before moving to Hamilton county. Ilys took time off from teaching to be a homemaker while the couple had three children. She returned to teaching in 1969 while also attending Drake University, earning her Bachelors of Science in Education in 1972. She taught in the Hamilton County School District for 35 years. In 1996, she retired from Northeast Hamilton due to failing eye sight.

Mrs. Conley is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Leland and Wendy Conley of Webster City; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Keith Kropf of Louisville, KY; Beth and Monte Assadipour of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Amy (Kary) Thomas of Tulsa, OK; Andrew Kropf of Midwest City, OK; Angela (Jon) Luiken of Webster City; Elissa Assadipour of New York, NY; Alex Assadipour of Ames; Zohara Assadipour of Fort Dodge; sister and brother-in-law; Pauline and Galen Fjetland of Goldfield; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shirley McCollough.

Ilys was a member of several education organizations. She enjoyed sewing, needle pointing, reading and traveling. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
