Mildred L. Pingel, 87, of Webster City, formerly of Vincent, died peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City with her family by her side. The service honoring Mildred’s life will be Wednesday, November 23, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with the Rev. David Grindberg and Rev. John Sersland officiating. Interment will be in the Newark Township Cemetery near Vincent. The visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. Memorials may be directed to St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Mildred is survived by her husband, Gene; her daughters, Mary (Kenny) Kruger, Webster City; and Sue (Doug) Seltz, Clare; grandchildren, Kraig (Steph) Kruger, Larissa (Justin) Anderson, Kara (Ben) Walstrom, Megan (Dave) Ruzicka and Rachel Seltz; and six great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Madalyn Dockum.
Mildred L. Lund, the daughter of Ernest and Alice (Sebber) Lund, was born October 16, 1924 near Vincent. She attended country schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1942. Mildred then attended Tobin Business College. After graduating, she worked in the office of Fort Dodge Fruit and Grocery for four years. On October 5, 1947, Mildred was united in marriage to Gene Pingel at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. They made their home on a farm near Vincent and farmed for several years. In 1963 they moved to Vincent. She was employed by New Cooperative in the accounting office for 19 years, retiring in 1987. Mildred enjoyed her family and was a long time active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
