October 23, 1950 --- January 10, 2012

LeRoy Hanson, 61, of Livermore, passed away January 10, 2012 at the Wright County Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church n Livermore. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.

LeRoy Hanson, the son of Herman and Mabel (Rasmussen) Hanson, was born October 23, 1950 at Fort Dodge, Iowa and was baptized at Lake Lutheran Church near Goldfield. The family made their home on a farm near Goldfield until moving to a farm east of Livermore when LeRoy was three years old. He attended kindergarten at Livermore, first grade through graduation at LuVerne Community School, and received his confirmation at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Following his graduation in 1968, LeRoy enlisted into the Army National Guard. On September 15, 1973, He and Sharon were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church at Goldfield. The couple made their home on their farm for their entire marriage.

Leroy’s family will always remember the time he spent with them, showing 4-H cattle with Kerianne; playing with his grandsons – especially taking them for rides on the boat, tractors, 4-wheelers, and the combine at the farm; and watching his daughter’s sporting events which included Volleyball, basketball, track, and softball in high school at CWL and basketball for Kinzee at Buena Vista and Kerianne at Drake. An avid outdoorsman, LeRoy looked forward to hunting deer with friends from Goldfield; turkey, pheasant, and quail with his brother-in-law Bill Huisman; and antelope, bear, and wild hog with Kenlee Merry. He also enjoyed fishing at Gull Rock in Ontario, Canada, with the Jacobson’s and Randy Brock; or just wondering around Scheel’s and Bass Pro Shops dreaming of his next big hunt.
In addition to his love of farming and raising cattle, LeRoy enjoyed attending farm and toy auctions, spending summer holidays and weekends with Sharon making funnel cakes, cheese curds, and fried ice cream, golfing in the in Green Jacket Tournament with his sons-in-law, nephews, and brother-in-law, and cheering for the Colts, Beavers, Bulldogs, and Panthers.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Sharon (Sheets) Hanson of Livermore; daughter, Kinzee (Hanson) Bryte and husband, Tim and their sons, Adam, Trey, and Levi all of Adel, IA, and daughter, Kerianne (Hanson) Roder and husband, Kelly and their son, Kole all of Adel (formally of Lake Ozark, MO). He is also survived by his sister, Monnie (Hanson) Steigleder and husband, Fred of Humboldt, and their children, niece, Tammy (Steigleder) Sanders and her husband Jason and their children Ty and Schipper of Clive, and nephew, Troy Steigleder and wife Amy and their children Lauren and Audra of Libertyville; sister-in-law, Roberta (Sheets) Huisman and husband, William (Bill) of Centerville, IA, and their children, nephew Rob Huisman and his wife Staci, and their children Tyler, Madison, and Delaney of Ankeny, nephew, Alan Huisman and his wife Nancy and their children, Cohen and Bordan of Centerville; and father-in-law, Raymond Sheets and wife Margery of Goldfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Mabel (Rasmussen) Hanson of Livermore, IA and Mother-In-Law Marjorie (Nelson) Sheets.
