Whispering Pines, NC -- Evelyn W. Woodbury was born in Algona, Iowa on March 11, 1923 to Henry and Pearl Weber. The family moved to Corwith, Iowa in 1932 where she completed grade school and high school. She attended Iowa State College at Ames, Iowa. On January 24, 1943 she married her high school sweetheart, Maynard B. Woodbury in her parents home and followed him on his assignments in WWII to London, Brussels, Washington, DC, and Arlington, VA. She worked for the Office of the Department of Defense (Public Affairs) until her retirement on November 5, 1976, then moving to Whispering Pines in 1978 where she was active in the Women's Golf Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, Frank Weber. There will be no public ceremony. Interment will be at the Corwith Cemetery Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the FirstHealth Hospice Foundation, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374. Powell Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
