Billings Matron Dies in Hospital

Mrs. Esther E. VanSchoyck, 66, wife of Glen H. VanSchoyck of 2305 9th Ave. N., died in a Billings hospital Thursday at 9 a.m. of cancer. She had been in failing health for several years and was a hospital patient since Oct. 19. She was born Oct. 12, 1891 in Clarion, Iowa, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Fatland. Her marriage to Mr. VanSchoyck took place in Taunton, Minn., Dec. 26, 1917. They moved to Roundup that year and to Billings in 1925. Mrs. VanSchoyck was a member of Bitterroot Chapter No. 96, Order of Eastern Star of Rapelje, and the First Presbyterian Church of Billings. Survivors besides her husband include three sons, Quentin VanSchoyck of Grand Junction, Colo., Glen VanSchoyck of Cut Bank and Carol VanSchoyck of Tulsa, Okla.; two daughters, Miss Sharyee VanSchoyck and Miss Nikki VanSchoyck, both of Tulsa; a brother, Noel Fatland of Cut Bank; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Carstens of Silverton, Ore., and Mrs. Naomi Hegberg of Madrid, Iowa, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Settergren Chapel with the Rev. R. E. Smith, pastor of the Church of the Open Bible, officiating, Burial will be in Rosebud Cemetery in Absarokee.
