October 8, 1910 --- December 31, 1993

Edith (Mrs. Howard) Dight, 83, of Charles City, died Friday, December 31, 1993 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Rudd United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Melvin Reth officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery at Floyd. Hauser Funeral home of Charles City was in charge of arrangements.

Edith Kate Bethell Dight was born on October 8, 1910, at Clarion, the daughter of James and Anne Gould Bethell. She graduated from Clarion High School in 1929, and on December 5, 1935, she was married to Howard Dight at the Rudd Methodist Church parsonage. She was a member of the Rudd United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Dorcas Circle of that church, the We Help Others Club, the Ulster Homemakers Club and the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed her needlework, gardening and her grandchildren.

Living family members include four sons and their wives: Charles and Jane, Richard and Brenda, all of Rockford; Robert and Marion of Charles City; and Tom and Pam of Osage; a sister, Ada Stevens of Clarion; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a nephew and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard, in 1985; twin infant daughters in 1938; a grandson, Kyle, in 1989; and a brother, Theodore, in 1962. Memorials may be directed to the family.
