Robert J. "Bill" Engels, 79, passed away Monday, January 30, 2012, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, at Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove with Rev. Niles Hernandez officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Duncombe. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Bill is survived by his brothers, Duane (Ruth) Engels of Vincent; Darrel (Eleanor) Engels of Fort Collins, CO; Paul (Carole) Engels of Austin, MN; brother-in-law, Wilbur Segar, of Webster City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elsie (Danner) Engels; brother, Richard Engels; sister, Marcille Segar; and long-time friend, Charlene Nelson.

Robert Joseph Engels was born March 20, 1932 in Lehigh. He attended country school. He attended Caterpillar School in Topeka, KS; mechanics classes at the Cummins School in Columbus, IN; and also the Detroit Diesel School in Des Moines. Bill was a man of many trades, including long distance trucking; and was well known as a superior diesel mechanic for Eagle Mills intil his retirement. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
