Nellie Dueland was born on January 31, 1901 in Quick, Nebraska to Nels and Anna Eide Dueland. She was baptized into the triune faith on April 21, 1901 in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Slater, Iowa. On October 31, 1915 she renewed her baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley, Iowa. She died at Mercy Hospital, Des Moines on January 1, 1972 after reaching the age of 70 years, 11 months, and 1 day.

Nellie was a graduate of Ames High School. On October 9, 1920 she was united in marriage to Edwin Ogland at Huxley, Iowa, Pastor Berkelo officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Ogland made their home on a farm 2 miles North of Eagle Grove until retiring and moving into town in 1952. Nellie became a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1920 and she expressed her love to her Lord by taking a very active part in our congregation. When it became impossible for her to be at the church she expressed that love through phone, cards, and letters encouraging those who needed comfort, thus spreading the joy that was hers to others in a very effective way. She was an honorary member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Eagle Grove Garden Club. As the result of an accident she was taken to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines on Dec. 9.

Mrs. Ogland was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Tollef and Chester.
