Funeral services for Harry Edward "Eddie" Wagner, 80, of Knoxville, who died September 20, at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held September 23, 1999, at the First United Methodist Church in Knoxville. Burial was at Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Military honors were accorded by Baty-Tucker Post #168, American Legion, and John Myers Post #3519, VFW. The Rev. Martha Ward officiated at the services. Music was provided by Linda Gehling, organist. Pallbearers were Art Clark, Al Dorenkamp, Dan Fall, Rich Jellema, Lyle Pearson, and Kenny Wagner. Honorary bearers were Milton Johnson, Adrian Krupa, Earl Morgan, Paul Morgan, Dwight Sommar, and Chuck Walter.

Eddie was born March 13, 1919, in Corwith, the son of Harry and Clara Guelck. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Knoxville, and he graduated from Knoxville High School in 1937. He served in the Army Air Force during World War H, serving in the U.S., England and France. He was united in marriage to Wilma Fall on September 23, 1942, in Unionville, Mo. The couple lived their entire married lives in Knoxville. He worked for his brother, Stubby, for several years at United Food Market in Knoxville. He was a letter carrier for the Postal Service in Knoxville from 1962 until his retirement in 1984. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Knoxville Y's Men's Club, and a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of Knoxville; two daughters, Debbie Clark of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and Cindy Pearson of Glendale, Ariz.; a brother, Kenny Wagner of Corwith; two sisters, Vonis Coverdell of Decatur, Ga., and Rita Hayes of Knoxville; and three grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the World War H Memorial in Arlington, Va. Arrangements were made by Evans-McCleery Funeral Home in Knoxville.
