March 19, 1928 --- February 8, 2011

Don D. Gourley, 82, of Webster City, died Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Asbury United Methodist Church, with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Asbury Mission Fund.

Don Duane Gourley, son of John E. (Jack) and Helen Groves Gourley, was born March 19, 1928 at Corwith, Iowa. He graduated from Corwith high school, then attended Morningside College and Iowa State University studying in agriculture. From 1946 to 1948, he served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Point Cruz Carrier in the South Pacific. Following his discharge, he moved back to the family farm. On January 26, 1952, he married Virginia Anderson at Fort Dodge. The couple resided in Webster City. In 1955, they moved to Dows and in 1960 to a farm south of Webster City.

Don is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Dr. Dennis Gourley of Hilliard, OH; daughter, Dr. Jacquelin Kae of Auburn, WA; grandchildren, John and Paige Gourley of Carlsbad, CA; Matt Gourley of Ballwin, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Georgianna Gourley of Webster City; Dr. Lynn and Ellie Gourley of Starksville, MS; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, Moose Family Center and the CO-OP coffee Club.
