GEORGE C. MARCUS DIES SUDDENLY TUESDAY NIGHT
The community was shocked and saddened Wednesday morning to learn of the untimely passing of George C. Marcus. Mr. Marcus passed away suddenly about midnight Tuesday, May 2, 1950 of a heart attack. He had not been in ill health and worked as usual Tuesday at his job of grading roads. He would have been 54 years of age next June 10th. Funeral services for George Marcus will be held Friday, May 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church with Rev. E. Jorgenson officiating. Music will be furnished by Mrs. Lawrence Flo, accompanied by Mrs. E. Jorgenson as organist. Pallbearers will be Clarence Larson, Alfred Helland, Iler Anderson, Easton Jacobson, Louis Hove, and Archie Cooper. Interment will be at the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery. A complete obituary will be carried in the Sentinel next week.

Last rites for George C. Marcus were held at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church on Friday, May 5, 1950, with Rev. E. Jorgenson officiating. Mrs. Lawrence Flo provided vocal numbers with Mrs. E. Jorgenson accompanying her on the organ. Pallbearers were Clarence Larson, Alfred Helland, Iler Anderson, Easton Jacobson, Louis Hove, and Archie Cooper. Interment was at the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery.George Christian Marcus was born on a farm near Clarion, Iowa to parents Elias and Ellen Marcus on the tenth of June, 1896, and passed away at his home in Bricelyn on May 2, 1950. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church by Rev. H.C. Holm. He resided in Iowa until 1920, when he came to Bricelyn, where he resided until his death. Death was due to a fatal heart attack at his home in Bricelyn, He had attained the age of 53 years and 11 months. On June 20, 1925, Mr. Marcus was united in marriage to Tena Halvorson, and to this union were born five children: Donna, of Minneapolis; Virginia (Mrs. Claire Underdahl) of Elmore; Gayle, Donovan and Sharon, who are at home. He is also survived by four sisters and two brothers: Selma (Mrs. Elihu Highland) of Bricelyn; Etta (Mrs. H. B. Engen) of Clarion, Iowa; Ruth (Mrs. B. A. Banks) of Clarion, Iowa; Elmer, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Orville, of Haven, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. He also leaves to mourn many other relatives and a host of friends. During his stay in Bricelyn, he served as assessor, Fire Chief, and tax consultant for many years. Mr. Marcus was employed by Larson-Clifford Construction Company of Wells, Minnesota at the time of his death.

Michael Thomas and David, Rochester, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fuller, Waukee, Iowa, Mrs. Christ Steffens, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Steffens, Lake Mills, Iowa. Mrs. M. B. Johnson, Pelican Rapids, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hansen, Albert Lea, Minnesota; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Johnson, Ledyard, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Theo Knutson, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold K.
