January 5, 1917 - March 7, 2011

Donna Evelyn Reddel was born January 5, 1917, in LuVerne, Iowa, the daughter of Frederick and Laura (Wegner) Lenz. At a young age her family moved to Fairmont, Minnesota, then to Comfrey, Minnesota for eight years, then to Gilmore City, Iowa, before returning to LuVerne in 1935. On December 15, 1937, Donna was united in marriage to Harold Reddel at the Zion Lutheran Church in LuVerne. After their marriage they farmed near LuVerne. In 1958, they moved north of Wesley and farmed there until 1979, when they retired and moved into Wesley. Donna loved helping Harold on the farm and taking care of their family. She enjoyed baking her special cookies, fishing, playing cards, bird watching and drives with Harold through the countryside. In her younger years Donna did a lot of sewing, embroidery, gardening and canning. Donna died Monday, March 7, 2011, at the Good Samaritan Society ~ Algona Center. She was 94.

She is survived by her children, Eldon and Viola Reddel of Riceville; Sharon Hoffmann of Lake Mills; Delores and Dennis Glawe of Wesley; Carol and Steve Oxley of State Center; Kathryn Reddel of Wesley; Linda Steffensen of Racine, Wisconsin; Larry and Mary Reddel of Wesley; 23 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold on July 12, 2004; brothers, Gordan and Roland Lenz and son-in-law, Donald Hoffmann.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at St. John Lutheran Church in Corwith with the Rev. Barbara Chapman officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Wesley. Burial will be in the LuVerne Cemetery in LuVerne.
