Vera Almeda Larson Smith, the daughter of Henry H and Josephine M Gibbs Larson, was born June 18, 1921 at Harlan, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Elmer L Smith in Hiawatha, Kansas in 1946. Vera was a member of the United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star for 39 years, Homebuilder for 30 years, Girl Scout Leader for 6 years, DAR for 5 years, and was a school teacher for 11 years. She died on Monday, July 23, 1990, at the Belmond Community Hospital. Vera is survived by her husband, Elmer, a daughter, Laurie K. Gottschalk both of Belmond, IA; and a son Jay L. Smith of Rochester, MN; 2 grandchildren Carrie J. and Guy E. Gottschalk, and a brother Ray Larson of Harlan, IA. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gene Larson.
