December 26, 1943 --- November 25, 2011

Robert W. Highland, 67, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and formerly of Webster City, died surrounded by his family on Friday, November 25, 2011, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge following a courageous battle with mesothelioma. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the Church of Christ in Webster City. Pastors Ray Artrip, Steve Young, and Richard Laird will officiate. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Church of Christ. Carson - Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert Wayne Highland was born on December 26, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Ross Wayne and Cleo Nadine (Fugate) Highland. He attended Eagle Grove Schools and later graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Bob was married to Linda Mehl in 1965. To this union three children were born: Melissa, Mindy, and Robbie. Bob and Linda later divorced. On January 12, 1990, Bob was united in marriage to Kathie (Graham) Stapp at the New Testament Church of Christ in Webster City. Bob and Kathie made their home in Webster City until retiring and moving to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Bob was employed by Farmland Industries/Koch Nitrogen Company as a pipe welder for over 40 years until retiring in February of 2006. Bob enjoyed boating, golfing, and motorcycling. He loved a good game of dominoes and especially looked forward to the annual Highland family domino tournament.

Among the survivors is the love of his life Kathie Highland, wife; children, Melissa Anderson, Mindy Highland-Jackson, and Robbie (Holly) Highland all of Webster City, Iowa, Deb (Terry) Nessa of Woolstock, Iowa, and Rob (Michelle) Stapp of Dayton, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Starla K. (Herb) Herbolsheimer of Burlington, Washington; two brothers, Richard E. (Karolin) Highland of Wenatchee, Washington, and Ronald R. Highland of Chicago, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and children, Angela Hartnett and Richard Stapp Jr. Memorials may be left to the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home, 2630 9th Ave. South, Fort Dodge, Iowa 50501.
