Hilka Luppes, 87, Webster City, a former Kamrar area resident, died Monday, June 18, 1990 at the Hamilton County Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Church of Kamrar, Rev. Gerald Naber officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery east of Kamrar. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home of Webster City is after 7 p.m. today until 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Hilka Tapper, daughter of Harm and Antje (Van Heiden) Tapper, was born Feb. 13, 1903, on a farm southeast of Webster City. She attended rural schools and Kamrar schools, and graduated from Webster City High School. She taught in rural schools in Wright and Hamilton counties. She married Harme E. Luppes on Nov. 1, 1922 in Webster City. The couple farmed in the Kamrar area. Following the death of Mr. Luppes on July 12, 1953, Mrs. Luppes continued to reside on the farm until 1974, when she moved to Webster City. She later moved to Southfield Care Center in May 1988.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons, Erma (Mrs. George) Studley and Eleanor (Mrs. Francis) Bernard, both of Webster City; Raymond Luppes, Kamrar; and Mel Luppes, Ridgecrest, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anna Tapper and Jennie Roberts, both of Webster City, and Etta Sherman, Iowa Falls. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a son in infancy, and two brothers, Harm and Sye. Mrs. Luppes was a member of the Community Church of Kamrar.
