MASON CITY - James "Jimbo" William Redeker, 63, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City. Jim gave the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City, with Pastor Josh Schultz officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by members of the Mason City Veteran's Memorial Association. Casual attire is requested. Following the service the family will greet friends Saturday, Oct. 15, from 2-4 p.m. at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E., Mason City. Memorials may be directed to the James Redeker Memorial in care of Sandy Redeker.
James William Redeker was born March 30, 1948, in Mason City, the son of Donald and Ruth (Davis) Redeker. He received his education and graduated from Mason City High School in 1966. He was drafted into the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War; later he was honorably discharged. On Aug. 15, 1981, Jim was united in marriage to Sandy Vega. To this union they were blessed with three children. He worked at Decker Meatpacking Plant, Donnelly Cable, Armour Swift in Britt, Sunny Fresh, and most recently he worked at Eaton in Belmond. He also enjoyed working for his son, Jim Jr. "The Gutter Guy." Jim was an outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, bird watching and gardening. He loved camping and took many fishing trips with his family and friends, including to Leech Lake in Minnesota, salmon fishing in Lake Michigan and trips to Mexico. Jim enjoyed his fishing trips with his fishing buddy Dick Searle. He was an avid Minnesota Viking football fan. Jim enjoyed photography and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, attending their extracurricular activities. Jim was very proud of his 23-year sobriety. Jim was a member of the AA Club House.
Jim is survived by his mother, Ruth Redeker, Mason City; wife, Sandy Redeker, Mason City; children James Jr. (Mindy) Redeker and their children Austin and Alexis, Mason City, Cory (Traci) Redeker and their children Jace and Brooke Kamish, Manly, Carrie Santee and her children Nicole, Zack and Faith, Mason City; siblings Deanna (Butch) Raprager, Kathy (Wes) Loeckle, Peggy (Roy) Vega and Randy Redeker, all of Mason City; along with several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his father, Donald Redeker, nephew Doug Joyner Jr., and mother and father-in-law Mony and Liz Vega. Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E.
