NORDBO, SYVERUD, HEGG, GROTH, BERGE

Mrs. Bertha Nordbo was born in Aurdal, Norway, May 4th, 1848. In the summer of 1849 she emigrated to America with her family and settled near Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin. Later they moved to Iowa. In June 1880 she was married to Mr. A. Nordbo at Rock Creek. They lived at St. Ansgar where Mr. Nordbo was Parochial school teacher and the pastor's assistant till they moved to Eagle Grove in 1893. Mr. Nordbo passed away at Eagle Grove, December 17, 1895 leaving his wife and little girl, Anna, one daughter having passed away in infancy. Since then Mrs. Nordbo has lived a quiet life in Eagle Grove devoted to her home and her church. After a short illness she passed away quietly on Wednesday morning, April 11, [1922 or 1923] at the age of 74 years, 1 months and 7 days. She leaves her daughter, Miss Anna Nordbo of Eagle Grove and one brother, Ole Syverud of St. Ansgar; also two sisters, Pauline Syverud of St. Ansgar and Mrs. E.E. Hegg of Osage.

Funeral services were conducted at the Eagle Grove Lutheran Church on Thursday morning.

Mrs. Nordbo will long be remembered here both by her many friends as well as by the entire congregation because of her quiet devoted Christian life. The Lord make this memory of her a blessing to us. Funeral was conducted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Groth who because of Mr. Ole Syverud's illness kindly placed their home at the disposal of the bereaved family. Funeral services were also conducted at the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar and the remains laid to rest in the Evergreen cemetery north of St. Ansgar on April 13.

Present from away were her daughter, Miss Anna Nordbo of Eagle Grove; Mr. Henry Syverud of Dagmar, Montana; Mr. Nels Hegg, Ellen Hegg, Albert Hegg and Mr. L.P. Berge and family all of Osage. Two of the relatives namely, Mrs. E.E. Hegg and her brother, Mr. Ole Syverud were unable to be present at the funeral on account of illness.
