RENWICK - Florence Evelyn Dobson, 89, formerly of Renwick, Iowa, passed away on August 18, 2011 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by her children. A graveside service and inurnment will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M., September 30, 2011 at the Vernon Cemetery, rural Hardy, Iowa. A gathering of family and friends will follow immediately at the Renwick Methodist Church where lunch will be served.

Florence Evelyn Betts was born on February 23, 1922, the daughter of Fred and Floy Heater Betts in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Florence grew up and graduated from Coon Rapids High School. After her high school graduation Florence taught in the country school for several years. On January 12, 1946, Florence was united in marriage to Paul Robert Dobson in Coon Rapids, Iowa. Florence and Paul farmed in Scranton, Iowa, Smithland, Iowa and Glidden, Iowa before moving to Renwick, Iowa in 1953. They continued to live in Renwick until Paul's retirement. In 1996 Paul and Florence moved to Alamo, Texas. Florence continued living independently in her home in Alamo until just 2 weeks prior to her death when her children moved her to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to live with her daughter Carol Eisenhauer. Florence enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, gardening and cooking. She was a member of the Renwick Methodist Church.

Florence is survived by her children, son Larry Dobson and his wife Sherrie of Chanhassen, Minnesota. Her daughter Carol Dobson Eisenhauer of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and 6 grandchildren John, Erica, Lila, Heidi, Megan and Jeremiah. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, one brother-in-law and 3 sisters-in-law. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, 2 brothers, and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Oakcrest Funeral Services of Renwick is in charge of arrangements.
