Esther Cooper, 88, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away August 30, 2011, at the Franklin General Hospital Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa. She was born January 30, 1923, in Belmond, Iowa, to Fred and Marie (Lorenz) Gabel Sr. Esther attended Alexander schools. She married Emory Cooper on October 27, 1940, in Hampton, Iowa. Esther worked at the Franklin General Hospital as a Nurse's Aid for thirty years. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hampton. Esther loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her family, she enjoyed baking, cooking for her family, playing cards, especially 500, she also enjoyed traveling, taking vacations and reading. She is survived by her son Larry (Judy) Cooper of Fairfield, daughter Karen K. Cooper of Cedar Rapids, daughter Diane (Ron) Paine of Hampton, brother-in-law Carl C. Steinwandt of San Lorenzo, California, grandchildren Rick Cooper, Roger Cooper, Rod Cooper, Russ Cooper, Deb Grover, Joy Mashek, Hope Polk and Brad Paine, great grandchildren Wendy Boka and Laura Cooper, Katie Cooper, Josh and Jonah Cooper, Courtney and Chaney Cooper, Nicole Grover, Vanessa Fields, Nathaniel and Joseph Mashek, Levi, Heather and Kelsey Paine, Jackson, Calista, Olivia and Aiden Polk. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and four sisters. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.
