February 24, 1942 --- August 27, 2011

Jean Weiss, 69, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in the loving care of her family and the staff of Trinity Hospice. The service honoring Jean's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward Durand officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery west of Thor. The visitation is Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Jean is survived by her husband Toby; her sons, Randy (Alexandria) Weiss and Cory (Kristi) Weiss; grandchildren, Cassandra, Zachary, Trevar, McKenna, Cody, Hunter, Wyatt, Nicholus, Justin and Emily; great-grandchildren, Tyson and Maleah; her sister Donna Nelson; brother-in-law, Jerry Weiss; sisters-in-law, Adrian Weiss, Marianne Weiss and Karen Weiss; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather Ray Duitscher, her sister Dorothy Armor, brothers-in-law, Donald and Ronald Weiss and Eldon Nelson, grandson Colt Weiss and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elmer and Wanda Weiss.

Neola Jean Smith, the daughter of Guy Alexander and Clara Jane (Howell) Smith, was born February 24, 1942 at Clarion, Iowa. She attended schools at Clarion and graduated from Goldfield High School. Jean was employed as a hospital aide. On April 8, 1962, Jean was united in marriage to Robert (Toby) Weiss at Clarion. She raised her family and for 20 years was employed with the Fort Dodge schools where she worked for many years in the cafeteria at Phillips Middle School. Jean also provided child care in her home and cared for many children, especially Steve and Tracy Greve. Jean enjoyed knitting, fishing, traveling and spending time at their home on Spirit Lake. She loved her family and enjoyed spoiling them particularly during holiday dinners. Jean especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren.
