Elizabeth S. Voss

Elizabeth Saatoff Childs Voss, who was born Oct. 6, 1912, in Belmond, Iowa, passed away peacefully April 10, 2002, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Childs and William Voss; son, David L. Childs; and brother, Rint Saatoff. She is survived by her children, Donald (Marian), daughter-in-law, Sheila, Joel (Carol), John (Bonnie) Childs; sisters, Leona Saatoff and sister-in-law, Onie Saatoff of Waubun, Minn.; grandchildren, Michael (Theresa), Andrew, Stephen, Carrie, Audrey, Amanda, Nathaniel, Benjamin, John, Aaron Childs, and Jennifer Ellis; great-grandchild. Nicholas Childs.

Mother was born and raised on farms in Iowa and Minnesota. She attended the Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn. She worked as a Registered Nurse, last working at Saint Thom as Hospital in 1967 before moving to Alliance, Ohio. She lived in Rockynol Independent Living from 1990 until her death. Mother was an independent woman with a great sense of humor. She was a wonderful nurse, wife, mother, and grandmother. She set a good example for all her family. She taught us all many lessons in life how to love, to overlook the small things, how to treat others, and how to endure the difficulties and disappointments in life. She was a rock of support for her family through thick and thin. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Memorial services today, 2 p.m., at the Hummel Funeral Home West, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley, Rev. Thomas Heinlein officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Rockynol Retirement Community Life Care Fund or to a charity of your choice.
