PIONEER IOWAN DIES AT OSAGE
MRS. A. CHRISTIANSEN, 82, WAS NATIVE OF DENMARKOsage, Iowa – Mrs. Anton Christiansen died Easter Sunday at her home in Osage after a long illness. Funeral services are pending word from a grandson in service. The body lies in state at Champion's Funeral Home. In charge of services will be the Rev. Stiles Lessly with burial in the Osage cemetery.
Elizabeth Nielsen was born in Denmark December 6, 1861, the only daughter of Soren and Marie Nielsen. She emigrated to America with a group of 12 friends in 1880, one of whom became her husband the following year. They settled at Dows, and she after received employment at Cedar Falls. In 1881, she was married to Anton Christiansen, at Hampton, and they made their home at Mason City until 1897, when they moved to Riceville. The following year they came to Osage where the family has since resided. Her husband died in 1927 and she lived with her daughter, Mary, in the family home. Surviving are 4 children, Mary and Charles Christiansen of Osage; Mrs. John Harlis of Charles City; and Mrs. Harry Neus of Riverside, California.
