April 1, 1920 -- January 5, 1994

CLARION, IA -- Dorothy Marker, 73, Clarion, died Jan. 5, 1994, at Community Memorial Hospital of Clarion. Services are will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Clarion, with the Rev. William Granger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. today, with the family present 6-8 p.m., at Willim Funeral Home, Clarion. Survivors include a son, John Edward Marker, Waterloo; a daughter, Ella Gangestad, Eagle Grove; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary McGinnis, Clarion. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister and one great-grandson.

Dorothy Pepper was born April 1, 1920, at Coggan. She was raised and educated in Dows and graduated in 1937. She married John Marker in 1938 at the Little Brown Church. The couple farmed at Dows and Clarion. In 1951, they moved to Radcliffe, where they operated a hardware store. In 1955, they returned to Clarion and farmed in Lake Township. Her husband died in 1960. She then moved into Clarion. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church Women.
