Lake City, IA – Evert Baumann, 88, died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Lake City Union Church with Rev. Betty Weidert officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.
Evert is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Lake City; sons, Rich (Donna) of Carroll, IA and Chuck (Ann) of Salem, OR; daughters, Denise Janssen of Ankeny and Beverly (Tom) Bruening of State College, PA; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Grace Baumann; sisters, Alice Johnson and Freda Meyer; and great-grandson, John Baumann.
Evert Baumann was born October 18, 1922 at Eagle Grove, Iowa to William and Grace (Wilson) Baumann. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1940, and on June 20, 1944 he was married to Marjorie Snyder at Palo Alto, CA. He worked at Pan American in San Francisco, CA. Then co-owned and operated Snyder Implement in Lake City, IA for 37 years before retiring in 1985. Then he worked as Resource Development Director at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City for 3 years. Evert and Marj enjoyed many winters living in Weslaco, TX. Evert was a member of the Union Church in Lake City, and served on the church board; was on the City Council; the hospital board; Kiwanis; and a member of the Lake City Fire Department.
