ORONO, ME - Kathryn E. (Rollene) Richards, 91, died Friday, July 15, 2011. She was born Oct. 25, 1919, in Dows, Iowa, daughter of Arther and Marion (Rowe) Rollene. Kathryn was a graduate of Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill., and the University of Maine where she obtained her master's degree in special education. She taught first grade and special education in the Veazie and Bangor school systems. Kathryn was a member of Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church of Bangor, American Association of University Women, Christian Business and Professional Women's Club of Bangor and Stone Croft Ministries, and was president of Abenaki Girl Scout Council. In retirement she was an active volunteer with Penobscot Christian School. She will always be remembered for her love and kindness to all. Kathryn is survived by her husband, Charles Richards; children, Laurence Richards and his wife, Jane, of Richmond, Ind., Irene Inman and her husband, Kerry, of Abington, Pa., William Richards and his wife, Donna, of Scotia, N.Y., Donald Richards and his wife, Laurel, of Rockport, and Kenneth Richards and his wife, Stephanie, of Bloomington, Ind.; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 375 Mount Hope Ave., Bangor.
