Cathy Ann Riemenschneider Vanderheiden, 60, of Eagle Grove, died on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Mark Agnew officiating.

Cathy was born April 19, 1951, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Stanley and Letabelle Riemenschneider. She attended elementary school in Woolstock, Iowa, later attending and graduating from Eagle Grove High School. At the time of her death, she was employed by the Eagle Grove Eagle, a job she truly loved. Her friendly good cheer will be sorely missed. Cathy was an active member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church, singing in the choir, and was also a member of the UMW. Her other activities included Eagle Grove Chorale and active involvement in the Chamber of Commerce, including acting as secretary. As per her wishes, Cathy was cremated.

Survivors include a daughter: Stefanie Smith; two grandchildren: Jordin Smith and Harley Wood; mother; sister, Vicky Hahne; brother and sister-in-law: Tom and Holly Riemenschneider; niece: Kelly (Andy) Midtling; nephews: Mark Riemenschneider and Jason Hahne; and a grand-niece and nephew. Her father preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
