October 16, 1913 --- July 2, 2011

MASON CITY - Arlene Susan Geesman, 97, died Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Heritage Care Center, Mason City. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday July 6, at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street N.E., Mason City, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Gehling officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the Arlene Geesman Memorial, Holy Family Catholic Church or Hospice of North Iowa.

Arlene Susan Berg was born Oct. 16, 1913, in Eagle Grove, the daughter of Ben B. and Emma (Weis) Berg. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1931. Arlene was united in marriage to Charles E. Geesman on June 6, 1939, at Holy Family Catholic Church. Arlene and Charles owned and operated Mason City Paint and Glass; where she was the bookkeeper. She later worked at Farmers Grain Dealer for several years retiring in 1975. Arlene enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

Arlene is survived by her brother Don Berg, Hot Springs Village, Ark., two nieces, Rose Marie Mills, Mason City, Donna Berg, Hot Springs Village, Ark., nephews Dennis Berg, Mobile, Ala., James (Ann) Finneman and their sons Grant and Ross, Cedar Rapids, John T. Geesman, Mason City, two brothers-in-law Howard (Marilyn) Geesman, Eagle Grove, John G. Geesman, Charles City, two sisters-in-law Florence White, Fargo, N.D., and Beverly Johnson, Ringsted, along with numerous beloved Geesman nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and several cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles on April 1, 2008, sisters Pearl Berg, Florence (Lloyd) Rozen, brother Omer (Teresa) Berg, Glen (Jessie) Berg and sister-in-law Dorothy Berg.
