Arthur J. Stueland was born July 3, 1899, at Thor, Iowa, to Hans and Minnie (Mickelson) Stueland. He was baptized July 23, 1899, in Thor and confirmed May 30, 1915, at the Clarkfield Evangelical Lutheran Church. On May 15, 1941, he was united in marriage to Clara Kopitzke Dahlberg. Art farmed near Clarkfield for many years and retired in 1965. He died September 7, 1978, at the Granite Falls Hospital, Granite Falls, Minnesota, at the age of 79 years.

Survivors include his wife, Clara; three daughters: Madlyn of Minneapolis, Sharon (Mrs. Ken Olson) of Waukon, Iowa, and step-daughter, Pat of Dayton, Ohio; sisters: Evelyn (Mrs. Harlan Kruger) of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, Ruby (Mrs. Henry Oxtra) of Elbow Lake, Minnesota; brothers: Richard of Clarkfield, Earl of Granite Falls, and Edwin of Dubuque, Iowa; one granddaughter, Lori Olson; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Harold, Clifford and Reuben.
