Elizabeth Susie Linehan (formerly Wilcoxson), age 97, of Hammond, formerly of Hudson, died on the evening of June 17, 2011 at the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond, WI.

Elizabeth was born on December 11, 1913 to Carl and Laura (Kirkpatrick) Lewis in Eagle Grove, IA. The oldest of four children, she grew up in Eagle Grove on the family farm. Around the Fall of 1936, Elizabeth met a young man named Milo Wilcoxson, who worked as a field hand. In September of 1937 the two were married in Bethany, MO. The marriage would be blessed with 5 children. The Wilcoxson family settled on a farm in Eagle Grove until 1941 when they decided to rent a farm in Hudson. They worked on that farm until 1961 when Milo passed away after a battle with cancer. Elizabeth would remain on the farm until 1964 when she moved to River Falls. In 1965 Elizabeth was married to William Linehan. This marriage would later dissolve. Elizabeth would spend the next 30 years at the Croix View Apartments in Hudson in order to remain close to her family. She worked as a cook and caregiver for various people and groups in the community. In May of 2005 she moved to the American Heritage Care Center in Hammond.

Elizabeth was a very active woman with many hobbies. She was skilled with a needle and thread, making quilts for her family. Each special event in the lives of her family members (graduation, wedding, birth) was signified by one of her special quilts. She was good at writing, even contributing articles for the St. Paul Pioneer Press Bulletin Board under the writer’s name “Ipswich”. In earlier years, she submitted captions and phrases to a cartoonist in Iowa who used them for his work in various farm magazines. She enjoyed relaxing with a good book or tending to her gardens (particularly her violets).

Elizabeth is survived by her; children, Claire (Donna) Wilcoxson of River Falls, Neil Wilcoxson of Hudson, Vera (Charlie) Grant of Hammond and Paul (Arlyss) Wilcoxson of Roberts, son-in-law, Dennis Nelson of Roberts, and sister, Ethel Guion of Victoria, TX.
