Eugene Larson, age 90, of Fenton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Tuesday at the Lentz Funeral Home in Burt. Burial will be in the Burt Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 am until service time Tuesday at the Lentz Funeral Home in Burt.
Eugene J. “Swede” Larson was born on January 1, 1921 in Meservey, Iowa, the son of Wilhelm and Virgie (Halfpop) Larson. He attended school in Webster City. On October 28, 1958 Eugene was united in marriage to Leona Gifford at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home on an acreage near Seneca. Eugene worked as a construction worker until his retirement in 1983. Eugene loved fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, camping, gardening, his beloved dog Molly and two cats Boots and Tom.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Leona of Fenton; daughters, Starr Abbas (Jerry) of Marathon, Sherri Parsons (Terry) of Burt, Jerijean Hall (Melvin) of Marathon and Sheila Couchman and her family of Hiawatha, KS; grandchildren, Heidi Walker (Wade), Rob Abbas (Courtni), Jennifer Andreasen, April Abbas, Crystal Segebarth (Blake), Christopher Abbas, Sara Parsons (Kody Dalen), Melissa Korte (Adam), Meagan Parsons (Michael Norland), Kody Parsons, Adam Hall, Laci Hall, Kaci Hall and Michael Hall; 10 great grandchildren; sister Starr Reyes of Littleton, Co; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Michael and his wife Kira; three brothers, Owen, Rex and Paul Larson; and a sister Opal Fish.
