Annie Barbara Hamilton, age 90, of Roseau, MN died, Tuesday, October 31, 2006, at the Roseau Area Hospital and Homes. Annie was born on February 4, 1916 in Easby, Cavalier County, ND to Anton and Mary Fickert. Annie married Charles Hamilton in 1932. In 1951 Annie moved to Roseau, MN. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roseau. She was active in the Ladies Aid and for many years worked in the church nursery. She enjoyed children and many of the former children she watched in the nursery would visit Annie in her home. Annie enjoyed gardening and had one of the most beautiful gardens in Roseau County. She loved sewing and made many beautiful quilts. She also made toy and hope chests. At the Roseau County Fair, she received four Grand Champion Ribbons. Two for garden vegetables, one for a quilt and one for a hope chest. Annie's favorite hobby was taking pictures of family and friends. Annie worked at Polaris Industries for 22 years. She retired at the age of 74. Annie lived in Roseau for over 55 years. After her health declined, her daughter, Ida took care of her, allowing Annie to live at home.

Annie is survived by sons, Clair (Dolly) Hamilton of Andover, MN, Allan Hamilton of Airway Heights, WA, and Harry Hamilton of Roseau; daughters, Ida Hamilton of Roseau, MN, Barb Hamilton of Grand Forks, ND, and Kath (Lyle) Moss of Roseau; 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren, brother, Jake Fickert of Alsen, ND; sisters Agnes Kretsch of McHenry, IL and Elizabeth Schwehr of Fargo, ND. Annie is preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Mary Fickert; brothers John, Joseph, Louis and William; sisters Barbara, Katie, Mary and Frances; sons Winfred, Carl and James; daughter, Darlene (Thane) Young, and great-granddaughter, Flora Hamilton. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 6, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Roseau at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the Helgeson Funeral Chapel in Roseau from 5-7 p.m. with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be at the Spruce Cemetery, Roseau.
