Jeffrey Melvin Sampson was born July 15, 1961, in Algona, Iowa, to Thomas and Ardeen (Olson) Sampson. Jeff graduated from Algona High School then began working for area farmers. He also worked at Algona, Britt and Belmond Raceways; and at Quality Motors for 5+ years as a driver. Jeff enjoyed stock cars races, attending every week at area tracks. He also enjoyed his pet dog, Lucky.

Jeff died suddenly at his home in Algona on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the age of 49. Survivors include his father Tom Sampson of Wesley; sister Marcia Sampson of Algona; brother Brent Sampson and wife Betty of Lincoln, Nebraska, sister Marla and husband Jim Kollasch of Newell, Iowa and brother Jerry Sampson of Algona as well as six nephews and three great nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by his brother Bryce in 1970 and mother in November 2010.
