HAMPTON, IA - Dean Alan Dippel, 54, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Hampton Rehabilitation Center in Hampton. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, May 11, at the Bethany Reformed Church, Belmond. The Rev. Philip Arnold and the Rev. Melvin Voss will be officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the the Belmond Military Unit will be in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to the services at church Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to the family or the donor's choice.
Dean was born on Nov. 30, 1956, to Vernon and Lily (Wenzel) Dippel of Belmond. He graduated from Belmond Community High School in 1975. After graduation Dean joined the Air Force; after his discharge from the Air Force Dean attended Indian Hills Community College in Fairfield. He also attended a school of electronics in Des Moines. Dean worked various jobs throughout his life time including Wal-Mart in Ames, Burke in Nevada and Winnebago Industries in Forest City. Most recently Dean delivered Meals on Wheels to Rowan residents. Dean's interests included NASCAR, computers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Vernon Dippel and brother Dylan Dippel. Dean is survived by his mother Lily (Wenzel) Dippel of Belmond, brothers Dennis Dippel and Daniel Dippel of Belmond and Daryl Dippel of Ankeny; sisters Dawn Dippel of Marengo, Ill. and Dixie (Tim) Daniels of Garner; nephews and nieces Nathan and Natalee Dippel, Nicholaus and Isaac Schmit, Emily (Josh) Latina, Bryant, Austin and Carter Dippel; Peter and Kandyce Daniels; and four great nephews. Andrews Funeral Home, Belmond, Iowa.
