GREENE, IA - Funeral services for Raymond F. Wagoner, 84, of 412 N. First St. will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at United Methodist Church, Greene, with Pastor Ashok Patet officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Greene and will resume one hour prior to the services at the church Tuesday.

Raymond Frederick Wagoner was born Jan. 28, 1917, near Hampton, a son of Paul and Anna (Mutzel) Wagoner, and died peacefully, Saturday (June 2, 2001) with his family at his side at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. He received his education in the Hampton area, graduating from the Hampton High School in 1935. On Feb. 25, 1940, he was united in marriage to Frances Sprung of Sheffield at the Methodist Church in Geneva. They lived in the Meservey and Sheffield area before moving to the Dougherty area where they farmed for 21 years. In October 1965, they moved to their home in Greene where he was employed at McRoberts Implement until his retirement in 1982. In his retirement years he spent his time playing golf. Raymond was a member of the United Methodist Church of Greene where he served on the Board of Trustees and Finance Committee and he was Financial Secretary for many years. He also served on the Rose Hill Cemetery Board in Greene.

Those thankful for sharing his life include his loving wife, Frances of Greene; his daughter, Marlys and her husband, Jerry Petznick, of Northwood; two grandchildren and their spouses, April and David Mittag of New London, Mo., and Jade and Lisa Petznick of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, Skyler and Mariah Mittag and Matthew Petznick; two brothers, LeRoy and his wife, Sue Wagoner, of Charles City, and Dallas Wagoner of Hampton; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Wagoner of Iowa Falls and Esther Sprung of Sheffield; one brother-in-law, Delbert Sprung of Sheffield; and cousins, nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell; infant sister, Lucille; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Wagoner.
