Funeral Service Held For Mrs. Joe Johnson Monday

Mrs. Joe E. Johnson Passed Away Saturday A.M.

Funeral Services Held At Methodist Church Monday Afternoon

Funeral services for Mrs. Joe E. Johnson, 65, who died Saturday morning were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. H. E. Whyte, local pastor in charge. Interment was made in the Klemme cemetery.

Anna Sophia Carlson Ryden was born May 15, 1867 in Ryssby, Sweden. She was the fourth child of a family of eight children born to her parents Carl Gustafson Ryden and his wife Britta Lena (nee Olson) Ryden. She was educated in the public schools of Sweden and at the age of fourteen was confirmed in and became a member of the Lutheran church of Ryssby, Sweden. At the age of twenty-two the departed came to America and made her home with her sister, Blenda, in Chicago.

The departed was married Dec. 31st, 1889 to Joseph E. Johnson of Morris, Illinois. From this union 10 children were born, namely three sons and seven daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson lived for twelve years on a farm near Morris, Illinois. In 1902 the family moved onto their own farm near Klemme Iowa, where during the next sixteen years they built up a prosperous farming business. Fourteen years ago the family built a residence in the town of Klemme where they have resided ever since. Life at best is but a few short years and none of us can live long enough to do many things well. Therefore, to be a success one must concentrate his time and efforts on a few activities and do them well.

Mrs. Johnson's chief interest in life was her home, her husband and her children. No sacrifice was too great for her to make for her sons and daughters, all of whom she loved with a mother's love incomparable. If we were to wrote an epitaph for her monument today, it would read "Here Lies A Good Mother And Wife". Mrs. Johnson has been in poor health for the past 15 years and this was one of the reasons for moving to town. About five years ago she suffered a slight stroke from which she made almost a complete recovery.

About a year ago while attending the funeral of her sister, Blenda Rydell at Evansville, Ill., she fell and broke her hip and was an invalid ever since. Within the last ten days other complications set in and she departed from this life early Saturday morning, April 23, 1932 at the age of 64 years, 11 months and 10 days. Two daughters preceded her in death.

She leaves of her immediate family, her husband, Joseph E. Johnson, her children, Hulda Johnson, Clarence Johnson, George Johnson, Arthur Johnson, Mildred Johnson, Mrs. A. J. Kudje, Mrs. Alfred Carpenter, and Mrs. E. Stuart Heivilin. Her grand children, Robert and Barbara Johnson; Dwaine, Eugene, and Emily Lou Johnson; Jacqueline and Patricia Kudje; Marcia Jean Carpenter and Donna Mae Heivilin, and one brother, Otto G. Ryden of Chicago, Illinois.

Out of town relatives and friends in attendance at the funeral were: Otto G. Ryden, a brother of Chicago, Mrs. Fred Frederickson, Carl Rydell, Mrs. Fred Rydell, Elizabeth Rydell and Mrs. Josephine Phillips, all of Evanston, Ill.; John Peterson of Seneca, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. John Kudje and Mr. And Mrs. Frank Kopacek of Britt; Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Gilmer of Renwick; Lew Gilmer, Mrs. Cora Homan, Mrs. Hazel Folkerts of Abbott, Ia.; and Mrs. Howard Gilmer of Ackley, Iowa.
