June 6, 1944 -- April 12, 2011

Charlene (Char) Ringstad, 66, of Clarion, a former Webster City and Jewell area business woman, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Wright Medical Center at Clarion. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, with Revs. Mike Kroona and Tony Ede officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Jewell. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and prior to the service, Saturday at the church.

Charlene Dee Barquist, daughter of Clifford and Eula Jean Johnson Barquist, was born June 6, 1944 at Boone. She received her education in the South Hamilton School, graduating in 1962. She attended the Iowa School of Hairstyling and worked at Fox's Hairstyling in Webster City. On January 26, 1963, she married Rolen Hill at Trinity Lutheran Ellsworth. The couple farmed near Ellsworth. They were later divorced. On August 13, 1994, she married Gary Ringstad at their home in Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. Char owned and operated the Turkey Shed in Ellsworth, Turkey Shed II in Jewell and in 2002 with her partner, Sherry Anderson started the Wild Rose Floral Shop in Webster City. Gary died October 2002. She retired in 2010 because of failing health.

Char is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Fran Brownell of Clarion; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Janelle Hill of Ellsworth; Taylor and Jamie Hill of Stanhope; grandchildren, Brittany and Andy Brim; Brooklyn Hill; Aidan Hill and Luke Brownell; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Barquist of Ellsworth; sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Butch Sogard of Ellsworth, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Char was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
