VINCENT, IA - Lydia A. Dencklau, 96, of the Vincent and Eagle Grove area, died Friday, April 22, 2011 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center. The service honoring Lydia's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Van Nostrand officiating. Interment will be in the Colfax Township Cemetery. The visitation is from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church.
Lydia is survived by her children, Carl (Karen) Dencklau, Sauk Rapids, MN; Leland (Mary) Dencklau, Vincent; Regie (Arvilla) Dencklau, Clarion; daughter Janice Schlichting, Littleton, CO; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her brother Lawrence Hansch. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond (Buddy) Dencklau, two infant sons, Gary and Wayland, her sister Lillian Telschaw, her brother Leonard Hansch and her parents Otto and Lena Hansch.
Lydia Adeline Hansch was born December 6, 1914 in Colfax Township and she attended country school. In 1941, Lydia was united in marriage to Raymond E. Dencklau at St. John's Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Vincent area and she worked at Arnold Palmer Cleaners in Fort Dodge. They retired from farming in 1977 and moved to Eagle Grove. Lydia was employed at Christ Furniture for 25 years. Raymond died in 1995. Lydia was a member St. John's Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid and LWML where she was vice-president for two years and secretary for two years.
