August 4, 1937 -- April 3, 2011

Sharon Kay Fawbush, 73, of Rock Springs passed away April 3, 2011, at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City. A longtime resident of Rock Springs and former resident of Electra, Texas, and Kansas City, Mo., Fawbush died following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 4, 1937, in Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of the late Waldon and Leta Thompson. Fawbush attended schools in Coos Bay, Ore., and was a 1954 graduate of Marshfield High School. She married Donald Eldridge Fawbush on Aug. 12, 1965, in Reno, Nev., and he preceded her in death Dec. 9, 2008. Fawbush was a cashier at City Market and later at Jubilee Foods. She was employed there for more than 20 years and retired in 1999. Her interests included spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bingo and was a professional gambler. She was a great cook and was known best for her almond roca and divinity. She loved her animals and called them her four-legged babies. Fawbush was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son Clark Hager and wife Becky of Rock Springs; six daughters Sheri Hager Anderson and husband William of Rock Springs, Deb Guilinger and husband Mike of Olathe, Kan., Lori King and husband Michael of Coos Bay, Ore., Dawn Garvin of Heber, Ariz., Diana Majko and husband Walter of Rock Springs and Christi Peden of Evanston; one sister Patricia Jean Thompson of Washington; one sister-in-law Kay Thompson of Yuma, Ariz.; 43 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother David L. Thompson.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Rock Springs. Interment was in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. The family of Sharon Kay Fawbush respectfully suggests that donations in her memory be made to Cowboy’s Against Cancer, 1893 Dewar Drive, Rock Springs, WY 82901.
