Edward M. Eriksen passed away on November 28, 1958, at Buena Vista County Hospital in Storm Lake, following a stroke. He was 75 years of age at the time of his death.
Edward Martin Eriksen was born March 16, 1883, son of Erik and Caroline Eriksen, near Malcom, one of six children. His childhood was spent on the family farm located 9 miles from Grinnell. Here he grew into manhood and lived for several years following his marriage on Janaury 11, 1911, to Martina Engstrom. They also resided on a farm near Grinnell for a few years prior to their move to Clarion, Iowa, in 1927, where he resided on the same farm until his death. His wife preceded him in death on December 15, 1955.
He is survived by two sisters, Lana and Ella, Mrs. Harold Evans and Mrs. E.N. Conter, respectively, of Des Moines; and a niece, Joan, Mrs. R.H. Laird, whom the Eriksens reared as their own child from infancy. Having been baptized in infancy at the Trinity Lutheran Church near Malcom, he continued in this faith until after his marriage. He and his wife belonged to the Grinnell Congregational church, transferred memberships to the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion. Burial was in Clarion Evergreen cemetery with Rev. J. Curtiss Russell officiating. Pallbearers were Leslie Archerd, Alvin Benson, Anton Anderson, Berton Ross, Gordon Carlson and Claude Sankey.

Funeral services were held Sunday, Nov. 30, at the United Presbyterian church for Edward M. Eriksen, 75, well-known Clarionite, who died at the Buena Vista County hospital, Storm Lake, November 28. following a stroke at the home
of his niece, Mrs. R. H. Laird. The Rev. J. Curtiss Russell officiated. Special music was presented by Mrs. Wayne Ebert of Clarion and Mrs. Paul Ramsay was the organist. Burial was in the Clarion Evergreen cemetery with the Eyler Funeral home in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers were Leslie Archerd, Alvin Benson. His reverence of the Sabbath was always evident and his great way of finding fun in everyday life will long remain a pleasure to his multitude of friends.
Out of town relatives and friends attending the services were from Des Moines, Grinnell, Clear Lake, Humboldt, Renwick, Hampton, Kanawha and Webster City, Iowa; St. Paul, Hastings, Rochester, Dunnell, Welcome and Hutchinson, Minn.
