August 13, 1915 -- March 24, 2011

Solomon Krass, 95, died Thursday, March 24, 2011. He was born to John Conrad and Anna Krass in Windsor Township of Michigan on August 13, 1915. He grew up and was educated in St. Paul, moved with his family to a farm near Belmond, and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served his country eight years, including four years during World War II. On January 7, 1942, he married Marion Nelson. They shared 56 years of life and raised two sons.

Those thankful for the love and time they shared with him include sons Conrad (Ari) Krass, Vacaville, CA, and Marc (Jan) Krass, Otho, five granddaughters, Justina (Greg) Codde, Laura (Aaron) Mefford, Anastasia (Ken) Kramer, Theresa Pratt, and Danielle Krass, and six great-granddaughters, Rebecca and Jessica Codde, Kailyn Mefford, Taylor Kramer, Arianna Pratt, and Sydney Krass. Others include sisters Marie Horner, St. Paul, MN, and Martha Carter, San Diego, CA, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Preceding him in death were his parents, beloved wife Marion in September, 1998, his sister Kathryn Kachel, and his two brothers, Jacob and Henry Krass.

Memorial gifts left for The Lord's Cupboard or The Salvation Army would honor two causes Solomon wholeheartedly supported. The funeral service will be held at the Celebration Center at Friendship Haven on Tuesday, March 29, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Anita Johnson officiating. Private interment will occur at East Ullensvang Cemetery near Thor. The visitation will be held at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Monday, March 28 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and then from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday prior to the service at the Celebration Center.
