May 21, 1923 - March 5, 2011

Charles E. Ridenour, 87, of Clarion, formerly of Blairsburg, died March 5, 2011 at the Careage of Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service time. Burial will be at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.

Charles Everett Ridenour son of Charly and Nellie Darnell Ridenour was born on May 21, 1923 in Troy, IA. He grew up on the family farm and received his education from the Troy Schools. On February 15, 1948 he married Grayce Lucile Lewman at Ottumwa. Charles worked for John Deere as a machinist in Ottumwa for four years. The couple moved to Jordan in 1949 where he worked as a custodian at United Community School for 14 years. The couple moved to Blairsburg in 1963 where he worked for the Northeast Hamilton Schools as a custodian until he retired in 1988. Mrs. Ridenour died in 1991.

He is survived by his two sons, Charles (Tammy) Ridenour of Buffalo, IA and Jim (Jean) Ridenour of Clarion; one daughter, Paula and (Frank) Lang of Gillette, WY; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Grayce, his parents, two brothers and spouses, Clarence and Irene, Irvin and Irma; one sister and spouse, Irene and Harold Bemisdarfer.
