January 2, 1868 -- October 11, 1921

Mrs. Etta Deyo passed away at Clarion, Iowa, Sunday evening, October 11, following an illness of three days. Etta Grace Ball, the daughter of James W. and Catherine White Ball, was born in Strawberry Point, Iowa on January 2, 1868 and was 65 years, 9 months and 9 days old at the time of her death. Her childhood and early life was spent in and around Strawberry Point and at the age of 15 years she moved with her parents to Britt, Iowa, where on September 1884 she was united in marriage to Elias E. Deyo, who preceded her in death on September 21, 1904. To this union were born seven children; Earl E. Deyo of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Edith Munger of Oelwein; Percy E. Deyo who was killed in action in France on October 24, 1918; Katherine Perry and James E. Deyo of Oelwein; Gladys McCreery and Winifred Mincemeyer of Clarion. In the spring of 1897 the family moved to Oelwein, Iowa where they made their home until November 23, 1920, at which time she, with son Earl and daughters Gladys and Winifred moved to Clarion, where she resided until her death. Besides her children, twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild, Mrs. Deyo leaves to mourn her passing her aged mother, Mrs. Catherine Ball of Oelwein; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Haering of Oelwein and Mrs. Charles White of Salem, Oregon; one brother Ray Ball of Chicago, Illinois, many other relatives and a host of friends. Services were conducted at 10:00 o'clock Wednesday morning at the M. E. Church at Clarion by Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer, who accompanied the funeral party to Oelwein, where interment was made in Oakdale Cemetery Wednesday afternoon.
