Wylma "Willie" Jean Thompson, 77, of Hibbing, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Fairview University Medical Center-Mesabi of Hibbing. She was born Feb. 18, 1933, as Wylma Jean Reasoner in Iowa City, Iowa, and grew up in Dows, Iowa. She married Glen Thompson on Feb. 27, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa. The family moved to Hibbing in 1964. She worked at a local nursing home for 17 years. Willie enjoyed watching her sons wrestle for Hibbing High School, and watching her grandchildren play basketball and all other activities. She was a diehard Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed reading and doing crafts in her spare time.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo of Hibbing; six sons: Thomas, Pat (Sherry), and Jerry (Tamara), all of Hibbing, Robert of Chisholm, Terry (Carol) of Crystal, Minn., and Jack of Maple Grove, Minn.; one brother, George (Betty) Reasoner of St. Paul; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Thompson; her mother, Violet Reasoner; and her sister, Shirley Siltberg.
Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at Open Door Church in Hibbing. The Rev. Roland Weaver will officiate. Arrangements are with Dougherty Funeral Home of Hibbing.
