ANTHONY, KS - The Rev. Wiert Eekhoff, 92, died Jan. 7, 2010, 92, at Presbyterian Manor, Wichita. He was born March 26, 1917, in Wright County, Iowa, to Peter H. and Marie (Johnson) Eekhoff. On Aug. 7, 1940, he married Esther Marie Ebeling. Survivors: a son, David and Geraldine Eekhoff, Port Townsend, Wash.; a daughter, Beth and Stan Osborne, Wichita; sisters, Stella Neymeyer, Aplington, Iowa, and Thelma Mills of Raymore, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Presbyterian Manor Chapel, Wichita. Friends may register 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at Prairie Rose Funeral Homes in Anthony or Harper. Memorial may be given to the Rev. Wiert Eekhoff Memorial Fund for scholarships for Native American Theological Students at Cook School, Tempe, Ariz., in care of the funeral home.
