CLARION, IA - Jeffrey "Jeff" David Bolstad, 42, of Clarion, and formerly of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 7, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake. and then one hour before the service at the church. Family suggests memorials to Jeff D. Bolstad Memorial Fund in care of Mary Lin Kolb, 5285 S. Shore Drive, Clear Lake, IA 50428.
Jeff was born on Feb. 28, 1968, in Iowa City, the son of Gary and Mary Lin (Havnen) Bolstad. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1987. Following high school, Jeff moved to Minnesota where he became a certified HVAC/plumber and worked repairing manufactured homes and mobile homes. Jeff was an avid hunter, enjoyed boating, fishing, working outside and riding his Harley- Davidson. He loved celebrating holidays and spending time with family and friends. Jeff showed his Christian belief (being raised in the Lutheran religion) through his love of people by helping his family and friends.
Jeff is survived by his mother Mary Lin Kolb and stepfather Doug Kolb, Clear Lake; sister Christina Hatfield and her husband Mike, Minnesota, and their son Thomas; step-grandparents Vincent and Florice Kolb, Latimer, and Juanita Kolb, Hampton; special friend Trudy Ward and her children, Clarion; and many uncles, aunts, nephews and cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by his father Gary Bolstad, grandparents, Laddie and Joyce Bolstad, Donovan and Shirley Havnen, and aunt Kathy Banks. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., Clear Lake, IA.
