May 22, 1946 - January 25, 2011

Gary Luvern Tysdal was born May 22, 1946 in Clarion, Iowa to Anton "Tony" & Marjorie Tysdal of Eagle Grove, Iowa. He went on his next journey in life on January 25, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer.

He attended school in Eagle Grove, Iowa graduating in 1964 5th in his class and was honored with the John Phillip Sousa Music Award. He received a BS in Zoology from Iowa State University and received the Senior Outstanding Musician of the year award. He then enlisted in the Army in 1969 playing in the 5th Army Band in Chicago followed by the 8th Army Band in Seoul, Korea. He returned to the states and took multiple Science & Genetic courses in graduate school. He worked on campus for several professors while he attended school and also at Interlochen National Music Camp in Michigan as a counselor. He moved to colorful Colorado in 1977. He held a variety of Jobs including Manager of 7-11; Quality Engineer & Inspector at Complex Tooling & Molding; Metrologist at Nypro and ending with Supplier Quality Engineering Technician at Woodward Governor until his passing.

He enjoyed scenic drives and exploring around Colorado, trips to California, Hawaii and Japan. Loving nature so, one of his greatest passions was growing plants and flowers. He very much enjoyed all kinds of music and played in several musical groups including Musica Antiqua. He loved animals raising several of his own and helping out his aunt and uncle on their farm. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Ole & Marie Tysdal, Ernest & Emma Kell; father Anton "Tony" Tysdal; several aunts, uncles & cousins. Survivors include his mother Marjorie Tysdal of Berthoud, Colo.; sister Marsha (Chuck) Morgan of Fort Morgan, Colo.; nieces Kimberly & Ashley Fox of Fort Collins, Colo.; cousins & many friends. He will be greatly missed as he touched the lives of so many, always putting a smile on our faces.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Feb. 5th, 2:00pm at Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 North Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO.
