FUNERAL SERVICES HELD TUESDAY JULY 15th FOR MILO RISVOLD
Military Rites Held at Cemetery
Milo Kermit Risvold, son of Alma and Carl Risvold, was born April 30, 1922 at Rembrandt, Iowa. He passed away at his home after a three month illness on July 11th, 1958 at the age of 36 years, 2 months and 11 days. He was baptised and confirmed in the Little Sioux Valley Lutheran Church at Rembrandt. He was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Corwith, and served as treasurer until his illness forced him to resign on June 30, 1958. During his illness he remained in the Christian faith confessing Christ to be his Lord and Savior.
After the death of his parents he made his home for a time with Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Peterson at Linn Grove. Later he moved to Corwith with his brothers and sisters. He attended the Corwith Community School for his high school education and graduation in 1939. On July 13, 1940 he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force as a mechanic and later attended pilot training school. He received his wings at Williams Field, Mesa, Arizona in October 1942. He served over a year in the South Pacific theatre of war and completed 58 bombing missions. After 5 years of military duty he returned to Corwith where he entered the implement and automobile business with his brothers. On July 18, 1947 he was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Hanson. To this union four children were born. The past five years he was actively engaged in farming.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1929 and his mother in 1932 and also an infant sister. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie, and four children: Pamela Ann, Milo Kermit, Terry Ray, and Sybil Marie; two sisters, Ruth, Mrs. Glen Schulze of Bode and Bernice, Mrs. Don Enderson of Dickens, Iowa; two brothers, Carvel of Corwith and Alvin of Clear Lake; and numerous relatives and friends.
A prayer service was held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Blake Funeral Home, LuVerne, conducted by Pastor C. A. Brauer of Pomeroy. The service was held at St. John Lutheran Church, Corwith at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 1958. Mrs. Harold Fatka was organist and the church choir sang "Beneath the Cross of Jesus" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." Pastor Brauer preached the sermon on John 10:27-28. Interment was at the Corwith cemetery. The American Legion Post of Corwith held military honors and presented the flag to the widow. Casket bearers were Harold Fatka, Kenneth Price, Tom Meyer, Charles Quebe, Merlin Baker, and Arnold Heise. Women of St. John Church served dinner to the family and refreshments at the family home.
