October 13, 2002Forty-six year Ridgecrest resident Miriam Martin passed away of natural causes at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 9, 2002. She was 83. A funeral will be held Thursday, October 17, 2002 at 2 pm at the Church of Christ. It will be officiated by Mike Keeter. Visitation is set for Wednesday, October 16, 2002 from 5 to 7 pm at Holland & Lyons Chapel.
Miriam Martin was born April 26, 1919 in Corwith, Iowa. In life she was an Accounting Technician and was retired from China Lake Elementary and Sierra Sands Unified School District. Miriam was a member of the High Desert Quilt Guild, The Good Guys (Retirees of SSUSD) a volunteer for the Desert Empire Fair and a member of the Alzheimer's Support group. She spent many - if not all - summer vacations camping and fishing at Convict Creek with family. She also enjoyed family excursions exploring the High Desert, as well as the Southern Sierras. Her husband, M. R. Tony Martin and son Wallace R. Wilson preceded Miriam in death. She is survived by: Son - Wayne Wilson of June Lake; Daughter - Janet McDonald of Santa Rosa; Granddaughters - Kristin Wilson of Atlanta, Georgia and Anthea McDonald of Santa Rosa; Grandson - Jim Wilson of Savannah, Georgia; Great Grandchildren - Ainslie, Ashtyn and Landon Wilson.
