March 31, 1917 --- January 30, 1990

Joyce Meyer, 72, Webster City, died early this morning, Jan. 30, 1990 at the Hamilton County Hospital where she had been a patient since December. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rev. Mark Buchhop officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation at the Foster Funeral Home is after 5 p.m. today until 8 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be taken to the church.

Joyce Burnette Skrovig, daughter of Iver and Emma Swenson Skrovig, was born March 31, 1917 in Radcliffe. She graduated from Jewell High School in 1934, and received her teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. She taught in the Radcliffe and Jewell area for eight years. She married Harley Meyer on Feb. 14, 1942 in Dows. The couple farmed near Kamrar. Mrs. Meyer was preceded in death by her husband in 1975 and she continued to reside in Webster City.

She is survived by a son, Douglas Meyer, Webster City; three sisters and two brothers: Ione (Mrs. LeVerne) Alvestad, Williams; Sylvanus "Sonny" Skrovig, Brooksville, Fla.; Truman "Buddy" Skrovig, Dows; Treva Koop, Kamrar; and Berneda (Mrs. Arthur) Larson, Webster City. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister. Mrs. Meyer was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Webster City.
