Madelyn I. Adamson, 100, a resident of Kenosha, Wisconsin passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Harmony of Kenosha. Madelyn was born Dec. 23, 1910, in Kanawha, Iowa, to the late George and Bertha (Miller) Hippen. She was educated in the schools of Iowa; she moved to the Kenosha area in 1929 and would remain a Kenoshan for 81 years. Madelyn worked as a waitress at the Dayton Hotel and Oage Thomsen, and earlier she worked as a hairdresser at Violet Beauty. Madelyn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a sports enthusiast and loved to watch Jeopardy. Most of all she loved her family and many friends.
Madelyn is survived by one son, Ken (Adeline) Adamson of Kenosha; and two daughters, Gini Adamson of Milwaukee and Marcia (Ernie) Dost of Forest Park, Ill. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Gina (Mark) Andreson, Lisa (Dave) Maryanov, Jeremy Adamson, Margaret Dost and Andy Dost; and seven great grandchildren, Autumn Greco, Abby Adamson, Alexus Adamson, Gerald Maryanov, Adina Maryanov, Matthew Andreson and Anna Andreson. Madelyn was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and four sisters. Her husband, Walter, died in 1972.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church (7307 40th Ave.). Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday at the church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and again on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Susan G. Komen for the Cure would be appreciated. The family wishes to thank Harmony of Kenosha for the care they gave Madelyn for the past eight years and would also like to thank Hospice.
